Getting Close…

Hello dear friends,

I know what are you thinking…what is SBB doing and WHY IN THE WORLD have they not released the new music they have been talking about for so long?

First off, we wanna apologize for making you wait so long. We don’t mean to be a tease. Fact is, this full length album is taking way longer than we originally planned, but in a lot of ways, that’s a good thing. We have an amazing, talented team and support that we didn’t have before…together, we refuse to settle for anything that isn’t 100% incredible. We have all the right tools in our hands, but needed the right songs. We have written dozens and dozens of totally new songs, written with many talented writers, put in countless hours demo-ing out these new songs then sitting down at the drawing board over and over again to keep the vision for this album in tact throughout the whole process. We have been doing this for exactly a year and a half now.

We are getting really close.

We promise it is coming. We can’t tell you when unfortunately cause at this point we are not even quite sure. We are pushing our boundaries in every direction on what we are capable of. You guys have been so patient with us, we can’t thank you enough for that. We want to give you all, and the world, the album they have been waiting for from Shine Bright Baby.

It will be worth the wait so stick with us (:

We promise you will be the first to know! We ask for your continued patience and we covet your prayers.

New music…is coming.

The EPIC Tour is over! What a blast it was - thank you to everyone who came out, fed us, housed us and danced with us! We can’t wait to get back out but first things first…new music.

I know it seems like it’s been forever and the idea of new music from us seems like a distant and hopeful dream but I PROMISE…it’s coming! We want it just as bad as you guys do. Let me tell you something though, even though we have written more than enough material, it’s not a matter of having enough songs as it is having the RIGHT songs. We are taking our time on purpose.

Our first FULL LENGTH ALBUM…we want it to be everything and more than you have been waiting for. In the meantime, we are doing our last rounds of writing in March, please keep us in your prayers that God would give us the songs the HE wants to be heard.

And I will lock myself back up in my solitude to continue soul searching for the words to sing.

It’s coming…the songs are coming, just keep walking this journey with us and praying us every step of the way.

We love you guys!

Our Booking Agency - Last Hope Music

We are very excited to announce our new relationship with booking agency, Last Hope Music.

“Last Hope Music is very excited to be booking for Shine Bright Baby! I think they have a great sound and will go far. They have big hearts and are not only a great band but also about ministry and changing lives. We are excited for 2012 to hit the ground running!” says Ryan, founder of Last Hope Music.

Shine Bright Baby is equally thrilled to be working with Last Hope.

“Ryan [of Last Hope Music] is a great guy who works hard for his bands and has lots of connection but beyond that he really impressed us with his heart for ministry. His goal isn’t just booking amazing shows but getting Godly bands out there on the road to help win kids to Christ…and that’s what it’s all about.”

At the moment, Last Hope is booking “The Epic Tour” in promotion for headliner’s, Manic Drive’s new album “Epic”. Shine Bright Baby, News from Verona and Loftland support with full lights and sound production for the winter tour kicking off at the end of January.

Last Hope Music’s roster currently includes artists such as Tricia Brock of Superchick, I Am Empire and Wavorly. If you would like to book Shine Bright Baby, The Epic Tour or any of the other Last Hope artists, offers can be submitted via the website http://lasthopemusic.com/

Giving back

We reached our Kickstarter project goal for a new trailer in 3 days. Can you believe it? It’s almost unheard of! We were completely overwhelmed as we saw the donations coming in, hour by hour, getting us closer and than passing our goal of $2,500. Thank you to all of you who made this happen, to all of you who shared the link and helped get the word out. We have been so encouraged.

Because of the generosity of our fan base, we decided as a band, we should give back as well. With Kickstarter, you have to go the entire duration of the project (30 days for ours) regardless of when you meet your goal. So we still have 20 something more days to raise money and we want to do something special with that “extra” money.

25% of everything raised over our 2,500 will be donated from Shine Bright Baby straight to one of our favorite non profits that we have supported for years, Compassion International. Check out the link to learn more about them and their amazing ministry to children in poverty.

We love this organization and believe in what they are doing. We hope that you will continue to support us AND Compassion now as well. We have witnessed God’s generosity through his people and with Him nothing is impossible!

Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts.

Prayer Requests *please read*

Some of you may know we take prayer requests every week and take time out to pray for each one when we gather as a band. I just wanted to thank everyone who has opened up to us and shared their requests, even if it was in an email, we appreciate you entrusting with your requests. It’s been a really cool experience for us as a band to pray together for our fans and it’s brought us together as well. It’s heartbreaking sometimes, knowing the burdens of others, but that’s why we give them up to God. Lost jobs, deaths, illness, broken relationships and concerned friends and family begging for prayers for someone they care about to come to Christ - it really is heart wrenching but it’s also inspiring. We are so proud of you all. We feel like we have some the coolest fans. I know everyone says that but I really feel like we have the beginning of a community here that is learning to love and care about each other through the common thread of our music.

And please, if there is ever an update on a request let us know! We would love to know how God is working. A few days ago a friend told me she got the job we prayed for her about. Hearing these things from week to week are so encouraging. We are in the business of planting seeds so it’s hard not to be able to watch them grow and nurture them, but please share any praises and updates.

Several of you guys have been asking how you can pray for us - you guys are awesome. So after some thought, we decided to start a prayer support group (we will have a cooler name later haha). This is for those of you who sincerely want to commit to lifting us up on a daily basis, individually and as a band. We will start an email group where from time to time we will send out specific prayer needs that we have to those people. Being in a christian band isn’t easier than being in any other profession - I am actually convinced it’s harder. We are the front lines and we need you prayer warriors out there. This isn’t for everyone, our requests will be specific and sometimes personal and it’s not meant to be a show or a way for people to speculate or assume. The last thing we want is for this awesome thing to turn into a gossip fest or (on the flip side) an outlet for us to complain. This is for those of you who really feel led to come along side us and believe in what we are doing. It requires spiritual maturity and respect for privacy. It essential that as Christian we lift each other up without broadcasting personal matters to the world (aka the internet). We’re not gonna screen people or anything we just want to allow those of you who want to pray for our needs to be able to. Prayerfully consider this and if you feel led please email us at shinebrightbaby@hotmail.com just saying you want to be a part of our prayer support group. We look forward to building this community of believers. (:

We will continue to ask for prayer requests every week - thank you again, we love you all so much and feel so blessed to be able to be the position that we are in. Of course, everyone is allowed to pray for us (we don’t turn down prayers!) and we covet those prayers!

Well good night (:

Writing Lyrics (post from Emily’s Blog)

Hey all -

I believe it now when I hear artists say it takes them a year or two. Working on a full length major label debut album is well… the biggest and coolest but most challenging thing we have undertaken to date. It’s been really fun but more than anything, a learning experience…especially for me. And we still have a few months left.

So we have focused on writing for this album since November of 2010, that’s when we first buckled down, stepped back from touring and intentionally started using our rehearsal time for writing. Of course, we are always writing but you get the idea. This album is really important to all of us, for a lot of different reason then the obvious debut LP. If you go back really far, Nathan and I have been writing music together for like…i don’t know 5 maybe 6 years? And though SBB has only been around for a fraction of that, I feel like all those years of songwriting and all the time I spent late at night writing lyrics or pouring myself out on paper has come to be laid bare. You work and toil for so long and now it’s like, “Okay, what are you going to say to the world?” Whoa.

And how do you decide what to say? I have been writing my whole life but I am no longer 17 or 18 years old. I am no longer going through the things I went through before. I am growing up but still have a long way to go… and so that it what I am writing about. I write about things that can re-teach me every time I sing the words. I write about my relationship with God. And the songs of my trials and triumphs with Him become like altars set up along the journey so that I do not forget who I am, where I came from and where I am going. Cause each of those are very very important.

There are some times I would rather forget but I needed to go through to share with someone else that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And more than anything my message, and what I want this album to resonant with is hope and empowerment. Yes, I am not 17 or 18 years old anymore, but a lot of the people I sing to are and they need to hear every word of why they should seek out God’s plan for their lives and not conform to the world’s.

I am doing a lot of writing for the album for the remainder of this month and out of the 50+ songs we have in our catalog already I don’t know what will be on the CD when it comes out next year. But I know whatever it is that God’s hand will be in all of it and we all covet your prayers SO much for this process - that in all things God would be glorified and HIS words would reach many.

Just what I was thinking about lately,

Until next time,

-emily

Oh the West Coast (and the journey there and back)

So we made our first trip to the West Coast this last week! And what an experience it was! Man, I don’t even know where to start…

Well if you saw the recent video updates you know how the trip out went so I will pick up there.

We kicked off our weekend with a splendid photoshoot on Friday which lasted a mere 10 hours! Hardest we ever worked for good photos but man it was fun. And we had a great time working with Jerad (photographer man), Jake (hair man extraordinaire) and Kayla (or Jayla….long story but she did awesome make up). Got some photos up from the shoot on our facebook, will probably put together a video too! We got to explore downtown Seattle during our photoshoot and even hit the shore at sunset for some aahhhmazing shots.

Basically, we can’t wait to show you but you have to wait. Even we are waiting so we will all wait together (:

Creation Northwest - very cool! Nothing like driving to a festival with Mt. Rainier in the backdrop. It’s quite a bit smaller than NE but I think it made it less overwhelming, since we were already so far away from home. It still felt like home because of our wonderful label and managers being there to cheer us on and… (best part) kids who actually knew our music and were singing along. It was a beautiful time that ended too soon.

And the drive back…um… well we decided not to stop to sleep and keep driving the 40plus hours back home. So you can probably imagine what that was like..a little smelly to say the least! But we made it home and now we are all resting up and back to the grind working on new tunes for the album!!

Yeah, so maybe that was totally boring - but in real life it wasn’t, I promise! Check out the photos on our facebook from the photoshoot and festival - and our twitters to always keep up to date!

Love you all!

-emily

A little late but here is the last day of the EPIC journey! We had an awesome time in Seattle and now we are back home- more photos and such to come!
